Ah yes, I'm familiar with this one. Our OC, Light finds the titular plot device and uses it to inflict his idea of justice onto the masses. For this, his detective counterpart L sets out to identify Light as the for now anonymous killer behind all of the deaths. Despite how well planned. Eventually, recruited by L, Light works to cause his own undoing or compromise his own code of ethics. What will it cost to find justice?
